We are proud to provide health care to one quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers.  The Mental Health portfolio is expanding quickly in line with community needs and this role represents an opportunity to gain direct financial and operational experience in a genuine growth sector.  

We are now looking to engage a motivated Business Analyst to oversee the financial management, planning, systems and controls of multiple sites within this large portfolio.


In this management accounting role,  you will report to the Senior Manager Business Support Services and will work closely with key internal stakeholders including program leadership and staff to manage the portfolio’s business operations.  You will also have considerable interaction with the Finance team and your key deliverable will include:

  • Driving the budgeting and forecasting functions, along with the monthly and quarterly business reporting to Executive and Board level;
  • Improving operational systems, policies and processes to support enhanced management reporting and information flow;
  • Management of a significant operational budget, in conjunction with operations directors.
  • advising on ad hoc matters, including designing bespoke analytical tools and reports to support the efficient delivery of services.

There will be a particular focus on enhancing the quality of management information and the education of operational leadership in all financial and business management matters.  This role will also play a part in ensuring that responsibility for financial outcomes and accountability is clearly communicated and understood.  

Experience and expertise

To be considered for this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar business role, or a relevant tertiary qualification;
  • Proven ability to develop and meet operational and budgetary objectives, ideally in a commercial environment;
  • Excellent planning, organisation, analytical and problem-solving skills; and
  • Well developed communication and relationship building skills.
