Paediatric Registrar at Casey Hospital from August 2018 to February 2019
This position is accredited for Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with a perinatal component.  It is NOT accredited for Basic Training. General Practice Registrars who are looking to complete their advanced rural skills training in paediatrics are welcome to apply. Experienced doctors looking to gain further Paediatric and Neonatal skills who believe they have the skills and experience to function at Registrar level are also welcome to apply. A job share may also be considered. 

Paediatric Registrar at Casey and Dandenong Hospital from August 2018 to February 2019
This position is split between two sites – Dandenong and Casey hospitals. This position is accredited for Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with a perinatal component.  It is NOT accredited for Basic Training. General Practice Registrars who are looking to complete their advanced rural skills training in paediatrics are welcome to apply. Experienced doctors looking to gain further Paediatric and Neonatal skills who believe they have the skills and experience to function at Registrar level are also welcome to apply. A job share may also be considered.  
This position offers a broad range of general paediatric and neonatal experience for the early Paediatric trainee hoping to gain more experience or advanced trainee wishing to broaden their experience beyond a tertiary hospital. There will be extensive neonatal experience with the opportunity for both supervised and independent patient management, as well as the management of infants and older children with acute problems in a ward based environment with significant emergency department liaison.

Essential criteria include:
 

  • Medical Registration/eligibility for registration with AHPRA
  • Prior experience in Neonatal care, (ideally at least 3 months of tertiary neonates) or for General Practice trainees without neonatal experience, experience of acute care (e.g. ICU or anaesthetics) including airway skills. One referee should be able to verify the extent of your neonatal experience including resuscitation or your acute care and airway skills.
  • Valid Working with Children Check Satisfactory completion of an Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) course or equivalent within the last 5 years is desirable.

Interviews can only be offered to applicants who submit the names of 3 referees and ensure that the references are completed. One referee should be able to verify your experience with neonates/acute care including resuscitation and airway skills.

Though interviews in person are preferred, telephone or video interviews will be available.  For telephone interviews, you will need to supply a land line telephone number, no mobile phone numbers will be acceptable. For video interviews, you will need a device with a camera and microphone e.g. Laptop computer or tablet.

 

Selection Criteria Do you have at least 3 months neonatal experience including neonatal resuscitation and intubation?

Have you successfully completed an APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) course or equivalent in the past 5 years? If so, please scan/supply a copy of your certificate and attach to your application.

Are you a current trainee of the RACP or RACGP?

Are you currently registered with AHPRA?

Are there any restrictions on your Medical Registration?

Are you an Australian citizen or have PR? If not please explain your Visa status.

A current Employee Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required for all medical staff. If you have a WWCC please list the number and expiry date. If not, should you be successful for this position you will be required to supply a copy.

You are required to attach a copy of your Primary & Specialist (if applicable) Medical Qualification in the Education Certificate section in the next step. Please respond YES to confirm your acknowledgement. If successful you will be required to present the original or certified copy to MDW.
