The Monash Health Mental Health Program has a number of clinical units including three adult units (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising infant, child, adolescent and youth services), Psychology and Specialist Services (PsySS), Drug & Alcohol service and a Gender Dysphoria clinic.

 

About the role

 

The Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse responds to a diverse range of clients in the community requiring pharmaceutical and/or psycho-social supportive care for non-residential Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) withdrawal or stabilisation. Working closely with the patient’s General Practitioner as well as having links with specialist consultants from both within and outside Monash Health.

Referrals may come from a variety of sources including General Practitioners, Secada, Community Residential Withdrawal Unit or from one of Monash Health’s acute hospital settings.

 

You will provide Intake and Assessment where required whilst providing timely non-residential withdrawal support to the client group in accordance with the SECADA Model of Care.

 

What you need to know:

  • Based at Dandenong, with travel required regularly which includes stand-alone home based visits within the SE Area Catchment
  • Monday – Friday (9:00am to 5:00pm) – no weekends – no night shift!
  • Feel supported with multiple resources at your fingertips including a Nurse Practitioner, Residential Withdrawal Unit teamed with additional specialties. This is a one of a kind role where you will network and engage stakeholders to further develop the service.

About you


As an experienced Registered Nurse with either a General Medicine or Mental Health background, you will have demonstrated skills in working with withdrawal Management and a Cert IV in AOD being essential. You will approach each client with a professional level of care, engaging them to normalise addiction and assist them to rebuild their lives. You understand from your previous experience that each client is unique and their experience differs from each previous client.

 

Your attention to detail, innovative nature and passion for Nursing will see you excel in this position.
